Have your prescription information ready.

Start your refill securely in RxLocal. Keep the prescription bottle or current medication list nearby in case you need to confirm prescription details or contact the pharmacy for additional help.

1

Start securely online

Open RxLocal to submit an eligible refill request through the PioneerRx-supported patient portal.

2

We review what is needed

The pharmacy reviews refill timing, remaining refills, medication availability, insurance processing, and whether prescriber authorization is required.

3

We confirm the next step

You receive the appropriate next step for processing, pickup, delivery, synchronization, packaging, or pharmacist follow-up.

Common refill delays

A rejected or delayed refill does not always mean the prescription is denied.

CareCompass will explain the information available from the prescription, prescriber, wholesaler, or insurance response. The pharmacy cannot override a prescriber or insurance decision, but it can help identify the next reasonable step.

Too soon to refill

The plan or dispensing record may show that the next covered fill date has not arrived.

No refills remaining

The prescriber may need to issue or authorize a new prescription.

Insurance requirement

Prior authorization, formulary restrictions, quantity limits, or network rules may apply.

Medication availability

The medication may require ordering, an alternative product discussion, or prescriber involvement.

Simplify future refills

Ask about synchronization and organized packaging.

Medication synchronization may align eligible maintenance prescriptions to a more consistent refill schedule. Adherence packaging may organize eligible medications by date and dose time. Both services require pharmacist review and may involve short fills, prescriber coordination, or insurance timing.

Refill FAQ

What patients often ask about refill timing.

How do I request a refill?

Use the secure PioneerRx/RxLocal patient portal to request an eligible refill online. If you need help with the request or have a prescription-specific question, call CareCompass Pharmacy at 202-589-9438.

Why might my refill not be ready immediately?

The prescription may be too soon to fill, out of refills, expired, awaiting prescriber authorization, unavailable, or delayed by an insurance requirement. The pharmacy will explain the known reason and next step.

Can CareCompass contact my prescriber for refills?

When appropriate, the pharmacy may send a refill request to the prescriber. The prescriber determines whether to authorize the prescription and how quickly to respond.

Can my medications be synchronized?

Eligible routine medications may be aligned to a common refill schedule after the pharmacist reviews timing, remaining supply, coverage, and clinical appropriateness.

Can refills be delivered?

Eligible prescriptions may qualify for local delivery within the approved service area after the address, medication, timing, and delivery requirements are confirmed.
